Mahajanga
Mahajanga is a beautiful seaport city on the north-west coast of Madagascar and is a popular vacation destination for locals as well as international tourists. The city is lined with splendid beaches and exudes an amazing laid-back ambiance.
Although an impoverished city, it is the hospitality and appreciation shown by the friendly locals that lends a rich character to Mahajanga. The main attraction of Mahajanga is undoubtedly the unbelievable atmosphere that prevails along the palm-lined promenade. Mahajanga offer a number of interesting hiking trails, campsites and lovely picnic spots. Take a day trip to the Ampijoroa Forestry Reserve or Ankarafantsika National Park to see many species of water birds, lemurs, and to visit the breeding centre for endangered tortoise species. Head to the stunning beach of Amborovy beach, explore the grottos of Androhibe, or partake in the abounding water sport activities on offer. The Bombetoka Bay in Mahajanga is a beautiful site to visit.
